A
RESOLUTION
Honoring
the memory of B. V. White and expressing regret at his passing; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
news of the passing of B. V. White, late of Murrayville, Georgia, is received
with deep regret by this body; and
WHEREAS,
the life led by this distinguished gentleman of 88 years rendered his name dear
to the hearts of his family and many friends; and
WHEREAS,
after graduating from Ware Shoals High School in Ware Shoals, South Carolina,
Mr. White worked for Pacolet Manufacturing Co., now Derring Milliken;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. White honorably served his country as a radio operator for the Army Air
Corps during World War II; and
WHEREAS,
he was honorably discharged in 1945 and attended the Georgia Institute of
Technology, where he received the Cotton Manufacturing Association of Georgia
Medal during his senior year; and
WHEREAS,
he was an honest and dedicated man who strived for excellence in all his
endeavors as evidenced by his long careers at New Holland Mill and then Johnson
& Johnson, where he retired in 1975; and
WHEREAS,
this most esteemed gentlemen loved jogging, taking walks, and hiking, a passion
that compelled him to journey through many miles of the Appalachian Trail;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. White was a long-time member and devoted volunteer for First Presbyterian
Church; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. White leaves behind a loving and devoted family, including four daughters,
seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild;
and
WHEREAS,
while in life he commanded the esteem of his fellow Georgians, in his death we
mingle our sympathies with the grief of his family and friends.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body honor the memory of B. V. White and express their regret at his
passing.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
B. V. White.
