RESOLUTION
Commending
the Warner Robins American Little League All-Star team; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Little League teams of the Warner Robins area have established and maintained a
proud tradition of excellence in little league baseball; and
WHEREAS,
the members of this superlative all-star team were selected by their peers and
after only two weeks of practice, the team won all of its games to advance to
the state tournament; and
WHEREAS,
the Lions roared through the state playoffs with six consecutive wins which they
followed with victories in the Southeastern District Tournament and the United
States Tournament and in a dramatic 2-2 tie game against powerhouse Japan won
the game in extra innings with a home run to become the 2007 Little League World
Champions;
and
WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the young team in such a short span of time to attain such a feat is a clear indication of the outstanding athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and spirit of each member of the team; their superb offensive and defensive talents; and the astute direction of Coaches Mickey Lay, Mike Smith, Tommy Morris, and Mike Conlon; and
WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the young team in such a short span of time to attain such a feat is a clear indication of the outstanding athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and spirit of each member of the team; their superb offensive and defensive talents; and the astute direction of Coaches Mickey Lay, Mike Smith, Tommy Morris, and Mike Conlon; and
WHEREAS,
this magnificent team performed with precision during its championship run and
earned its well-deserved reputation for high standards of athletic achievement,
the quality of its play, and the stiff competition which it presented its
opponents.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the Warner Robins American Little League All-Star team for its
unparalleled achievements and congratulate them upon becoming the 2007 Little
League World Champions.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Head Coach Mickey Lay.
