RESOLUTION
Commending
the contributions of black contractors to the State of Georgia, recognizing
February 1, 2007, as "Black Contractors Day" in Georgia, and inviting
representatives from the Black Contractors Association to appear before the
House of Representatives; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
construction is the foundation of economic growth in this state and contributes
significantly to the quality of life of Georgia citizens; and
WHEREAS,
black contractors have been an integral part of this state's construction
industry and have made major contributions to its growth and development;
and
WHEREAS,
collectively, black contractors have a rich tradition of imparting great service
and have promoted skill, craftsmanship, and professionalism within the
construction industry; and
WHEREAS,
even when confronted with barriers to full equality within the industry, black
contractors have maintained an entrepreneurial spirit and prevailed in expanding
their opportunities for service and success.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize the contributions of black contractors to the State of
Georgia and recognize February 1, 2007, as "Black Contractors Day" in Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that representatives from the Black Contractors Association
are hereby invited to appear before the House of Representatives on a day and at
a time designated by the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
