A RESOLUTION


Commending Cathy T. Rambach; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Cathy T. Rambach has long been recognized by the citizens of DeKalb County for the vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, she has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of her community and state as evidenced dramatically by her many years of superlative service on behalf of people with mental health and developmental disabilities and substance addictions; and

WHEREAS, she has provided visionary leadership in the provision of services to the people of Georgia as a dedicated nurse and administrator for 34 years; and

WHEREAS, she joined the staff of Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, as a Staff Nurse in 1972; and

WHEREAS, she subsequently moved to Georgia and joined Georgia Mental Health Institute in Atlanta as Staff Nurse, Adolescent Unit in 1972; and

WHEREAS, she joined Parkway Regional Hospital, formerly known as Atlanta West, in Lithia Springs, Georgia, as Director of Psychiatric Nursing in 1979; and

WHEREAS, in 1981, she returned to Georgia Mental Health Institute in Atlanta as the Lead Nurse for the Adolescent Unit in 1981 and was promoted to Child and Adolescent Services Director in 1986; and

WHEREAS, she became the Deputy Superintendent of the Georgia Mental Health Institute in Atlanta in 1993 where she assisted the Superintendent in coordinating the service programs; and

WHEREAS, she was named Deputy Director of the DeKalb Community Service Board (CSB) in 1998, providing strong leadership in the provision of community mental health, developmental disabilities, and addiction services and where her contributions have been invaluable to the agency's progress toward the achievement of its mission and vision. Furthermore, Ms. Rambach's commitment and dedication have been evident in all that she does, and she has been as a role model for those who have aspired to assume leadership positions within the DeKalb CSB; and

WHEREAS, she has held an unwavering stand for advocacy, safe, honest, and ethical service to and on behalf of all citizenry, specifically those who live with complex daily hardships;

WHEREAS, she was a 1997 graduate of the Georgia Certified Public Manager Program and a 2004 graduate of the Leadership DeKalb Program; and

WHEREAS, she is noted for her passion, dedication, compassion, and perseverance on behalf of the consumers, staff, and community stakeholders of the DeKalb CSB; and

WHEREAS, her significant organizational and leadership talents, her remarkable patience and diplomacy, her keen sense of vision, and her sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of this state have earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and associates; and

WHEREAS, she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and

WHEREAS, her strong work ethic and genuine love for people have had a positive impact on countless members of the community; and

WHEREAS, throughout her career as a dedicated servant to the people of Georgia, she has provided expert guidance to those in need; and

WHEREAS, she has announced her retirement effective February 29, 2008, after 34 years of faithful service, and it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Cathy T. Rambach for her many years of efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service; congratulate her upon the grand occasion of her retirement; and extend to her their most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Cathy T. Rambach.
