A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mrs. Johnnie Blair; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Johnnie Blair is widely recognized for her teaching abilities as she has
taught business and computer science classes at Commerce High School for nine
years; and
WHEREAS,
she is the youth apprenticeship coordinator, the senior class sponsor, and the
faculty adviser for Future Business Leaders of America; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Blair is a native of Hartwell, Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
she earned her bachelor's and master's degrees at Georgia College and began her
teaching career in the Peach County School System in Fort Valley, Georgia, where
she taught business education classes for six years, and she has taught special
education classes at Commerce High School for two years; and
WHEREAS,
in addition to her career in education, she has held various jobs in the
business world; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Blair was named Teacher of the Year for the Commerce School System in 2006
and STAR Teacher in 2003 as well as in 2008, she is a two-time recipient of the
Golden Apple Award, she earned the Shining Star Award; and she is a graduate of
Leadership Jackson County; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Blair and her husband, Charles, are the parents of twins, Camille and Win;
and
WHEREAS,
she and her family are members of the First United Methodist Church of Commerce,
where she serves as pianist; and
WHEREAS,
she is a shining example of the important impact that the efforts of individual
classroom teachers make on the quality of education received by the children of
this state, and it is abundantly fitting and proper that her superlative
accomplishments be recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body heartily and gratefully commend Mrs. Johnnie Blair for her sacrifice,
foresight, accomplishment, and contributions on behalf of education in Georgia
and for the positive influence she has had upon the lives and futures of so many
young people in this state and congratulate her upon her selection as a STAR
teacher.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Johnnie
Blair.
