A RESOLUTION

Commending the Peachtree Ridge High School Lions football team; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Peachtree Ridge High School Lions football team has, in only four short years, established a proud tradition of excellence with equal emphases on character and academics; and

WHEREAS, this superlative team has completed another ultrasuccessful season of football competition by posting an amazing record of 11 wins, three losses, and one tie; and

WHEREAS, the Lions roared through the state playoffs and, as a fitting finale to their remarkable 2006 campaign, captured the Class AAAAA State Football Co-Championship after a dramatic 14-14 tie game against powerhouse Roswell Hornets; and

WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the young team over the last four years as it became the first Gwinnett County football team to attain a state championship in such a short span of time and only the second school in state history to attain such a feat is a clear indication of the outstanding athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and spirit of each member of the team; their superb offensive and defensive talents; and the astute direction of Head Coach Blair Armstrong; and

WHEREAS, this magnificent team performed with precision during the season and earned its well-deserved reputation for high standards of athletic achievement, the quality of its play, and the stiff competition which it presented its opponents.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend the Peachtree Ridge High School Lions football team for its unparalleled achievements and extend their sincerest best wishes for continued success in the future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Head Coach Blair Armstrong.
