RESOLUTION
Expressing
congratulations and best wishes to Mr. Ernest Reighard for his 92nd birthday;
and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Ernest Reighard, beloved father and husband and esteemed citizen of the State of
Georgia, celebrates his 92nd birthday this May; and
WHEREAS,
he was born May 7, 1916, in Topton, North Carolina, and served in World War II
in the Philippines; and
WHEREAS,
he and his late wife, Ruth, raised a loving family of four children and moved
the family to Atlanta, Georgia, in 1954; and
WHEREAS,
Ernest spent his career working for a mining and rock quarry business at the
Hitchcock Corporation, and in 1968, he and Ruth purchased a farm in Paulding
County and moved there and became permanent residents; and
WHEREAS,
at the age of 91, Ernest leads a very agrarian lifestyle in that he runs his
52.8 acre farm himself, cares for 21 head of cattle, cuts and bales his own hay,
and performs other such duties as required in maintaining his farm;
and
WHEREAS,
his most prized possession is the round hay bailer purchased in his 91st year of
life; and
WHEREAS,
Ernest has served his family, community, and country and is a stellar example
that age is no barrier, a hard worker, and a great friend to all who are
privileged to know him.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize the inspirational life of Ernest Reighard and extend to him
their most sincere congratulations and best wishes for his 92nd birthday on May
7, 2008.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Ernest Reighard.
