A RESOLUTION


Honoring and remembering the life of Mr. Benjamin Franklin "Mr. Frank" Arnsdorff, Sr.; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, on December 10, 2007, the State of Georgia lost one of its finest and most distinguished citizens with the passing of Mr. Benjamin Franklin "Mr. Frank" Arnsdorff, Sr.; and

WHEREAS, he was born on July 3, 1912, to the late Johnnie and Lillie Edwards Arnsdorff; and

WHEREAS, he is survived by his devoted wife of 71 years, Gladys Seckinger Arnsdorff; his sons and their spouses, Mr. H. O'Neil and Mrs. Sandy Arnsdorff, Mr. Wayne and Mrs. Sylvia Arnsdorff, and Mr. B. F. Arnsdorff; and

WHEREAS, he served as an active member of Clyo Masonic Lodge # 280 F & AM for 72 years, and he was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, and a former member of Turkey Branch United Methodist Church; and

WHERAS, he served the citizens of Effingham County as a member of the Board of Commissioners from January 4, 1949 until December 31, 1955; and

WHEREAS, he also faithfully served the citizens of Effingham, Bulloch, Jenkins, and Screven Counties as a Democratic Representative for the General Assembly from January, 1959 until December, 1966; and

WHEREAS, he served as the first chairman of the Effingham County Hospital Authority, serving from 1968 until 1972; and

WHEREAS, he was known as a self-made man and throughout his life he worked as a farmer, owning a produce hauling truck and numerous sawmills without ever having a job that actually paid a salary; and

WHEREAS, he touched the hearts and lives of everyone he met with his humor and endless stories; and

WHEREAS, he was esteemed as a forthright businessman and a gentleman of impeccable character, who had a deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Effingham County, the State of Georgia, and the United States; and

WHEREAS, in life he commanded the respect of his fellow Georgians and at his death it is fitting and proper that we offer our sympathies to his family and friends.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join together to express their deepest regret at the passing of Mr. Benjamin Franklin "Mr. Frank" Arnsdorff, Sr., and extend their most sincere condolences to his family and friends.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Mr. Benjamin Franklin "Mr. Frank" Arnsdorff, Sr.
