RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and honoring the life of Mr. Hoyt Herschel Henry, Sr.; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
on February 29, 2008, the State of Georgia lost one of its finest and most
distinguished citizens with the passing of Mr. Hoyt Herschel Henry, Sr.;
and
WHEREAS,
this native and long-time resident of Gainesville, Georgia, is recognized by the
citizens of his community for the vital role he played in leadership and for his
deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia and the
United States; and
WHEREAS,
he diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time,
talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community as evidenced
dramatically by his many years of superlative service as a Chief of Police;
and
WHEREAS,
this extraordinary man also served as Chief of Police at Lanier Island and as an
active member of the Georgia Chief of Police Association, the International
Chief of Police Association, Gainesville Rotary Club, the Paul E. Boulding Post
American Legion, BPOE Gainesville, Gainesville Lodge #1126, Gainesville Masonic
Lodge #214, the Gainesville/Hall County Boys and Girls Club, and scouting
organizations in Gainesville and Hall County; and
WHEREAS,
he served his country with honor and distinction as a member of the military in
the Second World War as a military police officer; and
WHEREAS,
this singular gentleman was a person of magnanimous strengths with an
unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness;
and
WHEREAS,
the passing of this generous, kind, and devoted family man leaves an unfillable
void in the hearts and lives of his family and friends.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GEORGIA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the
members of this body express their deepest and most sincere regret at the
passing of Mr. Hoyt Herschel Henry, Sr., and commend him for a lifetime of
efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
Mr. Hoyt Herschel Henry, Sr.
