RESOLUTION
Commending
Erika Carr; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
by spelling the words "routine" and "pathos," East Hall Middle School won the
Hall County Spelling Bee and advances to the regional competition at Collins
Hill High School in Suwanee on February 24; and
WHEREAS,
Erika, the daughter of Norma and Donald Chandler, won the competition last year
and was one of 37 students in fourth through eighth grades competing for the
regional championship after winning at their respective schools;
and
WHEREAS,
the winner of the regional contest will advance to the state competition,
sponsored by Atlanta Daily World and the Georgia Association of Educators, set
for March 23 at Georgia State University in Atlanta, and the state champion goes
to the National Spelling Bee on May 27 through June 1 in Washington, D.C.;
and
WHEREAS,
participation in a spelling bee requires preparation and composure under
pressure, and young Erika Carr is to be commended for her excellent
performance.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Erika Carr for her excellent performance at the Hall County
Spelling Bee and wish her success in the forthcoming competitions.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Erika Carr.
