RESOLUTION
Honoring
Mr. Joseph Talmadge "J.T." Carter and Mrs. Zena Cannon Carter on the occasion of
their fiftieth wedding anniversary; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
50 years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Carter were joined in holy matrimony on January 12,
1957; and
WHEREAS,
J.T. Carter was born in Laurens County, Georgia, grew up in Cobbtown, and
graduated from Collins High School in 1955; and
WHEREAS,
Zena Carter was born and raised in Bulloch County, Georgia, and attended
Savannah High School; and
WHEREAS,
they lived in Port Wentworth, Georgia, for 40 years before moving to South
Effingham County and have been pillars of the community and active members of
the Port Wentworth United Methodist Church for the past 45 years;
and
WHEREAS,
J.T. is retired from an outstanding 33-year career at Union Camp Corporation,
and Zena is retired from the Savannah-Chatham School Board after 18 years of
brilliant service; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. and Mrs. Carter are the proud parents of a son and daughter-in-law, Earl
LeRoy "Buddy" and Amy Coppage Carter, and a daughter and son-in-law, Cecilia
Armene "Cissie" and William Craig Hutcheson; and
WHEREAS,
J.T. and Zena have five wonderful grandsons: Christopher Joel Carter, Jonathan
Barrett Carter, William Travis Carter, Kyle Andrew Hutcheson, and Cannon Lewis
Hutcheson; and
WHEREAS,
throughout 50 years of hardship, triumph, and joy, this couple has strongly
maintained their love and devotion for each other; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. and Mrs. Carter have demonstrated exceptional commitment to their community
and state and, through their love and commitment to each other, have been an
inspirational example to young couples in their community.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend and congratulate Mr. Joseph Talmadge "J.T." Carter and Mrs.
Zena Cannon Carter on their fiftieth anniversary of wonderful marriage and
extend sincere wishes for many more happy years together.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. and Mrs.
Carter.
