A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the 2007-2008 student government officers at Cherokee High
School; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Cherokee High School has an outstanding student government organization;
and
WHEREAS,
each and every year Cherokee High School and Sequoyah High School compete in an
event entitled Nickle War where they collect money to go toward a charity in
their community; and
WHEREAS,
funds are collected by the student government of each high school on campus,
throughout the community, and at the Cherokee-Sequoyah football game;
and
WHEREAS,
this year Cherokee High School student government collected $12,000 to benefit
Children's Healthcare, an amount greater than any other high school in the
country has collected; and
WHEREAS,
the student government at Cherokee High School chose Childrens' Healthcare in
honor of Jonathan Pitner, a junior from Cherokee High School who lost his life
in an automobile accident at the beginning of the school year; and
WHEREAS,
the outstanding members of the Cherokee High School student government are
Mathew E. Whitaker, president; Jessica M. Harrington, vice president; Emily K.
Dreschel, secretary; Bryant M. Lewey, treasurer; and Christine M., Davidson,
senior class president; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that these outstanding students be
recognized for their extraordinary efforts.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join together to recognize the student government at Cherokee High
School and commend them on their outstanding efforts.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is hereby
authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to
the student government at Cherokee High School.
