A
RESOLUTION
Commending
Walker County's Ridgeland High 2007-2008 STAR student, Hannah Ruth Pennington,
and STAR teacher, Randy Bandy; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Walker County high schools have selected the Walker County 2007-2008 STAR
(Student Teacher Achievement Recognition) students, and each student, in turn,
has named his or her STAR teacher in recognition of the impact that teacher has
had on the student's academic success; and
WHEREAS,
for her outstanding accomplishments, Hannah Ruth Pennington was selected as STAR
student at Ridgeland High School for the 2007-2008 academic year; and
WHEREAS,
STAR student Hannah Ruth Pennington chose her history teacher, Randy Bandy, as
the one teacher most influential in her education career; and
WHEREAS,
to be selected as the STAR student for a high school, a student must have
obtained the highest score in one administration of the new three-part
Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) taken through the November test date of his or
her senior year and be in the top 10 percent or top ten students of his or her
class; and
WHEREAS,
it is fitting and proper to recognize appropriately the accomplishments and
achievements of this remarkable student and teacher.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Ridgeland High's 2007-2008 STAR student, Hannah Ruth
Pennington, and STAR teacher, Randy Bandy, and express to them their sincerest
best wishes for continued success in the future.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Walker
County Board of Education.
