A
RESOLUTION
Commending
the Dade County 2007-2008 STAR student and STAR teacher; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Dade County School System selects the Dade County 2007-2008 STAR (Student
Teacher Achievement Recognition) students, and each student, in turn, has named
his or her STAR teacher in recognition of the impact that teacher has had on the
student's academic success; and
WHEREAS,
for her outstanding accomplishments, Emma Schmidt was selected as STAR student
at Dade County High School, and she chose her English teacher, Cyndy Bowden, as
the teacher most influential in her education career; and
WHEREAS,
to be selected as the STAR student for a high school, a student must have
obtained the highest score in one administration of the new three-part
Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) taken through the November test date of his or
her senior year and be in the top 10 percent or top ten students of his or her
class; and
WHEREAS,
Emma Schmidt represented the Dade County School System at the regional level;
and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper to recognize appropriately the
accomplishments and achievements of this remarkable student and
teacher.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the Dade County 2007-2008 STAR student, Emma Schmidt, and STAR
teacher, Cyndy Bowden, and express to them their sincere best wishes for
continued success in the future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Dade County Board of Education.
