A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Mrs. Juanita K. Adams; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, because of her diligent hard work, tireless service, and indispensable leadership, Mrs. Juanita K. Adams recently was named the Gainesville 2007 Woman of Distinction by the Girl Scouts of Northeast Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Adams holds a 30 year certificate for teaching English as a second language from the Georgia Baptist Language Missions Department of the Georgia Baptist Convention and is a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Gainesville, where she has been instrumental in reaching out to the international community; and

WHEREAS, for more than a decade, Mrs. Adams has provided exceptional service and leadership as a teacher of the church's citizenship program and ESL Bible class and received the Turner Broadcasting System Super Citizen of the Week award in 1994; and

WHEREAS, a teacher such as Mrs. Adams understands the special difficulties associated with learning a second language and the frustration that language barriers add to daily obstacles, such as insurance forms, doctors' appointments, and family emergencies; and

WHEREAS, she is also involved with delivering Meals on Wheels and volunteers at the regional Youth Development Center; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Adams is a woman possessed of exceptional patience and compassion and is an inspiration to the youth of Gainesville and the State of Georgia.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in recognizing Mrs. Juanita K. Adams and commending her for years of outstanding service to the international community and the First Baptist Church of Gainesville.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Juanita K. Adams and LaDon Shaw, development director of the Girl Scouts of Northeast Georgia.
