RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the 1967 State Champion Jesup High School baseball team; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
under the excellent leadership of Head Coach Jim Collins, the 1967 Jesup High
School baseball team secured the Georgia High School Association Class A State
Championship; and
WHEREAS,
this team's hard work, enthusiasm for the game, and exceptional skill are
legendary and, over the years, have served as an inspiring example to Jesup High
School's student athletes; and
WHEREAS,
this memorable team consisted of many outstanding individuals, including Eddy
Lane, Gary Bennett, Ronnie Bennett, Sheryl Rentz, Mickey Harter, Ronald Bennett,
Bert Yeargan, Steve Beasley, Wade Odum, Roger Lewis, Jim McPipkin, Joe McPipkin,
Pat Brown, Randy Walker, Hugh Burke, Terry Thompson, Darwin Odum, J.C. Arnett,
and Butch Myers; and
WHEREAS,
the Wayne County Sports Hall of Fame is honoring the 40th anniversary of this
celebrated team in 2007.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join to recognize and commend the members of the 1967 Jesup High
School baseball team on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of their state
championship victory.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit appropriate copies of this resolution to the members of
the 1967 Jesup High School baseball team.
