A RESOLUTION


Expressing regret at the passing of Charles Mitchell "C.M." Stripling, Jr.; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia lost one of its finest and most distinguished citizens with the passing of Charles Mitchell "C.M." Stripling, Jr.; and

WHEREAS, he was an honest and dedicated man who strived for excellence in all his endeavors as evidenced dramatically by his many years of superlative service as an outstanding agriculturalist, conservationist, and philanthropist who served his community in leadership roles for the Georgia Peanut Commission, the Flint River Soil and Water Conservation District, and the Mitchell County Cattlemen´s Association as well as serving as president of the Mitchell County Farm Bureau for ten terms; and

WHEREAS, he was a devoted spokesperson for the cause of the farmer, utilizing his knowledge and familiarity with the field to facilitate state and national legislation for the growth and development of agriculture; and

WHEREAS, his unwavering efforts were instrumental in helping to secure the enactment of conservation use assessment in Georgia which has guaranteed that family farms throughout this state will continue to help Georgia maintain its leadership role in agriculture in the United States; and

WHEREAS, he excelled in the art of tree farming, earning recognition as State Tree Farmer of the Year, Southern Region Tree Farmer of the Year, and National Tree Farmer of the Year; and

WHEREAS, he was a generous philanthropist who unhesitatingly donated funds and land towards such projects as the C.M. Stripling Irrigation Research Park, the Courthouse Square Park, "Stripling´s GreenSpace," the Bernice Campbell Stripling Nature Trail, and the Georgia Sheriff Boys Ranch as well as providing the necessary money for scholarships at the University of Georgia and elsewhere; and

WHEREAS, he was a devoted family man and a dedicated member of his community, involved in numerous civic organizations such as the Camilla Rotary Club, the Camilla Lions Club, and the Boys & Girls Clubs; and

WHEREAS, he carried a deep appreciation for nature and advocated sensible conservation and stewardship of the environment; and

WHEREAS, he was a classic gentleman and a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and

WHEREAS, his unparalleled organizational and leadership talents, his remarkable patience and diplomacy, his keen sense of vision, and his acute sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of his community and state earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates; and

WHEREAS, the passing of this generous, kind, and devoted family man leaves an unfillable void in the hearts and lives of his family and friends.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body express their deepest and most sincere regret at the passing of Charles Mitchell "C.M." Stripling, Jr.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Charles Mitchell "C.M." Stripling, Jr.
