RESOLUTION
Commending
entrepreneur and author Doreen Carter; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Doreen Carter, the CEO and founder of the Wealth and Wisdom Resource Group, is a
tireless servant to the community and an esteemed citizen of Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
with clarity and straightforward honesty, Doreen Carter addresses the themes of
investment and personal finance from a Biblical perspective in her book,
The Mis-education of
the Christian...: On Money and Giving;
and
WHEREAS,
many Christians have an ambiguous relationship with money, but Doreen Carter's
book shows how the scripture, from Genesis to Revelations, does not support the
idea that money is evil; and
WHEREAS,
Doreen Carter explores more than 2,300 verses of text, presenting a perspective
on the Bible that encourages Christians to use money intelligently and to
reexamine the reasons for accumulating and tithing their earnings each week; and
WHEREAS,
Doreen Carter is a former director of stewardship at New Birth Missionary
Baptist Church and currently lives in Lithonia, Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
she holds a master's degree in accounting, and she began researching the
material for her book while conducting her studies for a master's degree in
theology; and
WHEREAS,
through her writings and through the financial education programs of the Wealth
and Wisdom Resource Group, Doreen Carter is helping empower countless
individuals and families throughout Georgia and the United States.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize Doreen Carter for her extraordinary erudition and tireless
service to the citizens of this state and extend to her their sincerest best
wishes for the future.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Doreen
Carter.
