RESOLUTION
Remembering
Mr. F. Dickson Durden; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. F. Dickson Durden was a native of Emanuel County and was a 1940 graduate of
Emanuel County Institute and a 1949 graduate of the University of Georgia with a
bachelor´s degree in Business Administration in Accounting;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Durden served his country faithfully in the United States navy from 1944 to
1946; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Durden served the City of Twin City, Georgia, either as a member of the city
council or as mayor from 1963 to 2000; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Durden was active in the community, serving on such organizations as the
Twin City Lions Club and the Swainsboro-Emanuel County Chamber of Commerce;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Durden was a member of the First Baptist Church of Twin City, serving as a
deacon and an adult Sunday school teacher for over 30 years; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Durden is survived by his wife, Mrs. LaNelle Bishop Durden, his daughter,
Disa D. McCommon, his son, Dal Durden, his brother, Walter David Durden, and his
three grandchildren, Maryanna Durden, Miriam Durden, and William
McCommon.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body express their condolences to the family of Mr. F. Dickson Durden for
their loss.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
Mr. F. Dickson Durden.
