RESOLUTION
Commending
Jennifer McHugh; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Jennifer McHugh has earned the esteem of her school and community in being named
the Buford High School Star Student for 2007; and
WHEREAS,
this outstanding young scholar has maintained immaculate grades while actively
participating in a number of extracurricular activities and interning at
McKendree United Methodist Church; and
WHEREAS,
her passion for art and photography has led her to teach art classes and display
her artwork at various exhibits and venues in the Buford community and
elsewhere, and her pieces have earned a substantial number of sales for an
artist her age; and
WHEREAS,
this Georgia Certificate of Merit winner has been an extraordinary leader
through such activities as National Art Honor Society, Beta Club, and the
National Honors Society; and
WHEREAS,
Jennifer McHugh has shown by the example of her academic accomplishments that
the pursuit and attainment of scholastic success is within the reach of the
students in this state, and her future plans include attending the Savannah
College of Art and Design with a $15,000 academic scholarship; and
WHEREAS,
in a world which seems to accentuate consistently the negative aspects of young
people, it is abundantly fitting and proper for this body to honor the
extraordinary accomplishments, intellectual acumen, and unsurpassed commitment
to excellence of such an outstanding individual.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize this outstanding young leader of the community, Jennifer
McHugh; commend her numerous academic and extracurricular accomplishments; and
extend to her their sincerest best wishes for the future.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Jennifer
McHugh.
