A RESOLUTION


Recognizing the City of Centerville on its 50th anniversary year; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the City of Centerville, Georgia, was incorporated on March 25, 1958; and

WHEREAS, in the 1960 census, the city's first official population count was 290; and

WHEREAS, in the intervening years, the City of Centerville has grown into a prosperous, stable city with a population of more than 6,857 as of 2006; and

WHEREAS, 2008 marks the 50th anniversary of the incorporation of the City of Centerville as a city of excellence.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and congratulate the City of Centerville as it celebrates its 50th anniversary year and encourage all Georgians to participate in the celebration of the City of Centerville's bright past and brilliant future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Harold M. Edwards, Jr., Mayor of the City of Centerville.
