Senate Resolution 1269

A RESOLUTION


Commending Simone High; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Simone High is a valued member of the Kendrick High School Lady Cherokees varsity basketball team which has established and maintained a proud tradition of excellence in girls basketball with equal emphases on character and academics; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Cherokees pulled off a doubly historic feat when they capped off a perfect season with a 79-67 triumph over Carrollton and in doing so became the first girls basketball team ever to win a state championship in the Columbus-Phenix City area; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Cherokees won from start to finish to compile a dazzling 32-0 record, giving the seniors on the team a four-year record of 121-5; and

WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of Simone High is a clear indication of her outstanding athletic ability, her dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and spirit she possesses; and

WHEREAS, Simone High contributed greatly to this magnificent team during the season and deserves to be honored as a champion.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Simone High for her unparalleled achievements and extend to her best wishes for the future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Simone High.
