RESOLUTION
Commending
and congratulating the 2006 Mill Creek Hawks 7-8 year-old National Pee Wee
All-Star baseball team; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Mill Creek Hawks 7-8 year-old National Pee Wee All-Star baseball team won
the 2006 Dixie Youth State Tournament by defeating Dacula National 13-8 on July
15, 2006, at Monticello, Georgia, to claim its first ever AA state title; and
WHEREAS,
on the road to the championship, Mill Creek beat Grayson National, Albany Dixie,
Jones County National (twice), Dacula Central, and Dacula National (twice); and
WHEREAS,
this remarkable team won its first 20 games and finished with an overall record
of 21-1, winning the Sub-district Tournament Championship at Bogan Park on June
22, 2006, by defeating Dacula National by the score of 4-2 and capturing the
District 6 Tournament Championship at Collins Hill Park on July 1, 2006, by
defeating a formidable Collins Hill American team at its home park by the score
of 7-4; and
WHEREAS,
Mill Creek's defense held its opponents to just over two runs a game while its
high-powered offense averaged over eight runs a game, outscoring its opponents
by the wide margin of 184 to 58 with Mill Creek's mighty offense hammering out
23 home runs including five grand slams; and
WHEREAS,
players hitting home runs were: Reid Parks, Dylan Wilson, Tyler Calvert, and
Ryan York, with Loren Matzick and Matthew Lewis hitting home runs in each of the
Buford, Sub-district, District, and State Tournaments; and
WHEREAS,
Mill Creek's superb pitching staff was comprised of: A.J. Weed, Matthew Lewis,
Nick Logan, Jacob Weisenberger, Loren Matzick, Gabe Davenport, Chase Claflin,
Kobe Wharton, Tyler Calvert, and Dylan Wilson; and
WHEREAS,
each member of the Mill Creek Hawks worked hard to sharpen individual skills,
while exhibiting excellent teamwork; and
WHEREAS,
members of this great team are: Alan Bussoletti, Tyler Calvert, Chase Claflin,
Gabe Davenport, Matthew Lewis, Nick Logan, Loren Matzick, Reid Parks, A.J. Weed,
Jacob Weisenberger, Kobe Wharton, Dylan Wilson, and Ryan York, ably led by Head
Coach Rod Davenport and Coaches Jason Parks and Scott Wilson.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
and congratulate the Mill Creek Hawks 7-8 year-old National Pee Wee All-Star
baseball team for winning the 2006 Dixie Youth State Tournament.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Mill Creek Hawks 7-8
year-old National Pee Wee All-Star baseball team.
