RESOLUTION
Recognizing
Josie Entrekin for her outstanding leadership as a Dogs Deserve Better area
representative in Cherokee County; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Dogs Deserve Better is an organization that advocates for the general humane
treatment of animals and, specifically, the freeing of chained dogs;
and
WHEREAS,
as an area representative, Josie investigates neighborhood complaints concerning
the treatment of animals and makes regular visitations to dog owners to pass on
literature about the dangers and misery associated with continuously chaining a
dog; and
WHEREAS,
in February 2006, Josie toured local elementary schools to lead activities for
the Annual Have a Heart for Chained Dogs campaign, including an arts and crafts
project where children created special valentines for chained dogs to be
delivered along with a brochure to dog owners in Cherokee County;
and
WHEREAS,
she also traveled to the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina to help rescue lost
animals; and
WHEREAS,
Josie works full time as a stylist at Kara Christian and is devoted to her two
year old daughter, Ellie.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body heartily
commend Josie Entrekin for her diligent and compassionate service to her
community and to the State of Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Josie Entrekin.
