A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Ms. Leeann Jones and Ms. Diana Calvert for their tireless efforts
and exemplary contributions to the Hillside United Methodist Church (UMC)
Christmas Angel program; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Leeann Jones and Diana Calvert have selflessly devoted countless hours to ensure
the success of the Christmas Angel program, which assists more than 700
children each year; and
WHEREAS,
these two compassionate Georgians got involved with the Christmas Angel Program
because they had "adopted" children from the Angel Tree for several years and
wanted to play a more significant role in this wonderful program at Hillside
UMC; and
WHEREAS,
in addition to the children´s wish lists distributed through the Angel
Tree, Hillside UMC provides a box of food, purchased at the Atlanta Food Bank,
to approximately 200 of the "Angel" families to assist them through the holiday
season; and
WHEREAS,
the efforts of these inspirational women provide a way for congregation and
community members to give to those less fortunate; and
WHEREAS,
Leeann Jones and Diana Calvert have made and continue to make Cherokee County
and the State of Georgia a better place to live.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body heartily
and gratefully commend Ms. Leeann Jones and Ms. Diana Calvert for their
sacrifices and diligence on behalf of Hillside United Methodist Church and for
their continued service to their community.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Leeann Jones and Diana
Calvert.
