A RESOLUTION


Commending Jackson Harvey O'Quinn; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. O'Quinn has been married to his lovely wife Camille for 58 years and they have five children together; and

WHEREAS, at the age of 18, Mr. O'Quinn was drafted into the United States Army, proudly serving during World War II, and was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas where he worked in the field of rocket research; and

WHEREAS, Mr. O'Quinn worked on V-2 rockets, the ballistic missiles developed by Dr. Wernher von Braun, who was one of the most famous rocket developers and pioneers of space exploration; and

WHEREAS, Mr. O'Quinn worked for years with the J.A. Jones Ship Building Company where he helped build Liberty Ships, which were the cargo ships built during World War II of which 2,751 were built at 18 shipyards between 1941 and 1945; and

WHEREAS, Mr. O'Quinn is a faithful member of Norwich Baptist Church.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Jackson Harvey O'Quinn for his contributions to his community, state, and country.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Jackson Harvey O'Quinn.
