RESOLUTION
Commending
the Cartersville Senior League All Stars; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
after losing the first two games in the 2007 Senior League Baseball World
Series, the Cartersville Senior League All Stars surged to win their last five
games to claim the world championship; and
WHEREAS,
in the final games against a team from Falcon, Venezuela, the Georgia boys bore
down on basics, relying on pitching and hitting to defeat the Venezuelans 9-1 on
a day when the wind affected both teams; and
WHEREAS,
Pitcher Chris Huth threw 89 pitches in holding down the most prolific hitting
team in the series; while the Georgia batters pounded 13 hits, with third
baseman Cole Payne leading the way with a 2-for-5 performance that included a
double and two runs batted in; second baseman Garison Boston going 2-for-4 from
the leadoff spot; and Cole Montgomery lofting a 3-2 pitch over the scoreboard;
and
WHEREAS,
parents and friends of the team members as well as sports fans throughout the
entire state are justly proud of the Cartersville Senior League All Star Team
for their extraordinary success.
NOW
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the Cartersville Senior League All
Stars are commended for their successes during the 2007 season and particularly
for winning the 2007 Senior League Baseball World Series.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to each team member and the
coaches and staff.
