A RESOLUTION


Commending Health Access Initiative in Hall County, Georgia; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Health Access Initiative is a physician-driven project of the Hall County medical society in which local physicians and agencies work to improve access to medical care for Hall County's uninsured adults; and

WHEREAS, Health Access Initiative connects patients with physicians and other providers who generously donate their skills, and assists in carrying out those physicians' care plans, thus allowing working people in Hall County who cannot afford it to receive the medical attention they need; and

WHEREAS, they offer a medication assistance program so that patients can receive medications as well as ancillary services such as x-rays and lab work; and

WHEREAS, there are 164 physicians and 22 specialists associated with Health Access Initiative who provide services at no charge to the patient; and

WHEREAS, thus far the physicians involved in the initiative have provided free medical care to 1,216 patients at a monetary value of $4.3 million; and

WHEREAS, the citizens of Hall County owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to the physicians who donate their time and services to Health Access Initiative for the outstanding contributions they are making to health care in their community.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Health Access Initiative and the physicians involved and thank them for their invaluable contributions to the health and well-being of the citizens in Hall County, Georgia.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Health Access Initiative.
