Resolution 789
By:
Senator Unterman of the 45th
A
RESOLUTION
Commending
Georgia's registered nurses; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the over 100,000 registered nurses in Georgia comprise the state's largest
health care profession and are vital to the medical well-being of our citizens;
and
WHEREAS,
professional nursing has proven to be an indispensable component for safe, high
quality care of hospitalized patients; and
WHEREAS,
professional nurses are also vital to outpatient care of patients, and the
renewed emphasis on primary and preventative health care in recent years will
require the better utilization of all our state's registered nursing resources;
and
WHEREAS,
the aging of the American population, the continuing expansion of
life-sustaining technology, and the explosive growth of home health care
services have led to a greater than ever demand for registered nursing services,
and more qualified registered nurses will be needed in the future to meet the
increasingly complex needs of health care consumers in Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
the Georgia Nurses Association supports and advocates the many ways in which
registered nurses strive to provide safe and high quality patient care and map
out the ways to improve our health care system.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
honoring the registered nurses who care for all of us and encourage that all
citizens of Georgia show their appreciation for these invaluable health
professionals.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Georgia Nurses
Association President, Linda R. Easterly, RN, BSN, MS.
