RESOLUTION
Commending
Mr. Sandy L. Adams on the occasion of his retirement; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Sandy L. Adams began his career in the City of Atlanta Water Department and
worked there from 1967 through 1980; and
WHEREAS,
he decided to move away from the city and relocated to Dawsonville where he
built homes and developed subdivisions from 1980 through 1986; and
WHEREAS,
he went to work for the Etowah Water and Sewer Authority (EWSA) in 1986;
and
WHEREAS,
initially, his job was to find customers willing to leave well water behind and
agree to accept water and sewer services; and
WHEREAS,
under Mr. Adams´ supervision, a 180,000 gallons per day wastewater plant
was put into service in 1996, and an expansion of the plant to handle 500,000
gallons per day was completed in 2006; and
WHEREAS,
due to Mr. Adams´ vision and leadership, EWSA is currently working on an
expansion of the water plant to handle 5.5 million gallons per day to support
the ever growing needs of the SR 400 corridor; and
WHEREAS,
the water system has grown from approximately 700 customers to 4,876 during Mr.
Adams´ tenure; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Adams and EWSA have won numerous awards throughout the years, including
Plant of the Year in 1993, seven education awards, and 17 wastewater
recognitions, to name a few; and
WHEREAS, he has been married for 43 years and has two children and four grandchildren and is a Past Master at Etowah Masonic Lodge #222, a member of Providence Baptist Church, and a 10 gallon+ American Red Cross blood donor; and

WHEREAS,
in his leisure time, he enjoys hunting and spending time with his family and
friends, and he has a good sense of humor and lends a helping hand to everyone
he meets and he will be greatly missed at EWSA.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
commending Mr. Sandy L. Adams for his outstanding contributions to Etowah and to
Dawson County and extend him the very best wishes for a happy
retirement.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Sandy L. Adams.
