A RESOLUTION


Expressing congratulations and best wishes to Cecil Clarence Wilson on the occasion of his 103rd birthday; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Cecil Clarence Wilson, a native of Georgia, is possessed of an unusual health and vitality, having outlived three wives and having survived the majority of the twentieth century without major medication; and

WHEREAS, Cecil was born on January 19, 1904, in Carroll County, where he played on the first Bowden football team in 1925 and owned the county's first Model T Ford automobile in 1924, for which he paid only $27; and

WHEREAS, Cecil recalls hearing his grandfather's stories about the Civil War as a young man and likewise enjoys passing on his wisdom to his own grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, although Cecil did not directly engage in military service during World War II, Cecil aided the production side of the war effort by working in a shipyard in Baltimore, Maryland; and

WHEREAS, Cecil has a personal affinity for watermelon, as he enjoys the growing as well as the eating of watermelon; and

WHEREAS, Cecil always sought to aid his fellow man in an hour of need, and for this reason he gained and maintained the admiration, esteem, and affection of his family and members of the community.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that this body hereby extends to Cecil Clarence Wilson its most sincere congratulations and best wishes on the occasion of his 103rd birthday.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Cecil Clarence Wilson.
