Senator Adelman of the 42nd offered the following amendment:

Amend SB 148 by deleting lines 1 through 8 of page 2.

By replacing "(5)", "(6)", "(7)", "(8)", "(9)", and "(12)" at the beginning of lines 9, 12, 14, 16, 19, and 26, respectively, on page 2, with "(2)", "(3)", "(4)", "(5)", "(6)", and "(7)", respectively.

By deleting "without destroying human life at any stage of development" on lines 10 and 11 of page 2.

By replacing "Nondestructive stem cell research" with "Research" at the beginning of line 12 of page 2.

By deleting "without harm to the human fetus or destruction of human embryonic life" on lines 20 and 21 and inserting " and" after ";" on line 21 of page 2.

By deleting lines 22 through 25 of page 2.

By deleting "; to encourage nondestructive stem cell research; and to encourage ethical research in life science and regenerative medicine" on lines 28 through 30 of page 2.

By deleting lines 34 through 36 of page 2.

By replacing "(3)", "(4)", "(5)", and "(6)" at the beginning of lines 1, 3, 5, and 7, respectively, on page 3, with "(2)", "(3)", "(4)", and "(5)", respectively.

By replacing "in nondestructive" with "with expertise in the field of" on line 28 of page 4.

By replacing "in nondestructive" with "with expertise in the field of" on line 36 of page 4.

By deleting " nondestructive stem cell" on line 35 of page 5.

By inserting "on developing therapies using umbilical cord blood and postnatal tissue" before the semicolon at the end of line 36 of page 5.
By replacing "nondestructive stem cell research, as defined is Code Section 31-46-2," with "umbilical cord blood and postnatal tissue research" on lines 22 and 23 of page 6.
