RESOLUTION
Commending
Reverend Albert McCorvey, Sr., for his life of dedicated service to his church
and recognizing him on the occasion of his retirement; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Reverend Albert McCorvey, Sr., entered the ministry in December 1950 and was
ordained on October 12, 1952, faithfully acting in service to the church and his
community for more than 54 years; and
WHEREAS,
Reverend McCorvey is a native of Alabama and was called to New Providence
Baptist Church of Columbus, Georgia, in 1974, where he served as Pastor until
January 28, 2007; and
WHEREAS,
prior to serving as Pastor of New Providence Baptist Church, Reverend McCorvey
had acted in service to several Baptist churches in both Alabama and Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
Reverend Albert McCorvey, Sr., is dedicated to saving souls, and since accepting
the pastorship at New Providence Baptist Church, he has shared his inspirational
vision from God for the growth of the church; and
WHEREAS,
he has served as a strong and encouraging leader to the church´s
congregation through his motivational preaching and teaching; and
WHEREAS,
Reverend McCorvey has lived a life dedicated to Christian education, and
community and spiritual service, exemplifying extraordinary Christian leadership
and embodying his personal commitment to his fellow man; and
WHEREAS,
his life of service is a genuine reflection of his faith and love for the Lord;
and
WHEREAS,
Reverend McCorvey is a devoted husband to his wife, Joretha Douglas McCorvey,
and a loving father to their three children, Andrea Jewayne McCorvey, Albert
McCorvey, Jr., and Delinda Viola McCorvey Kibler.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize
the service of this dedicated spiritual leader, commend Reverend Albert
McCorvey, Sr., for his many years of service and contributions, and congratulate
him on the occasion of his retirement.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Reverend Albert McCorvey,
Sr.
