A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending educator Amanda Wilhelm; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Amanda Wilhelm has given more than seven years of dedicated service as an educator, and she was named the 2007 Teacher of the Year by The TowneLaker magazine in recognition of her outstanding efforts as a seventh grade math teacher at E.T. Booth Middle School; and

WHEREAS, Amanda comes from a long family tradition of excellent teachers, including her mother, four cousins, an aunt, and both of her grandmothers, and she pursues her vocation with inspiring creativity and a dynamic vigor that demonstrates the strength of her family's teaching heritage; and

WHEREAS, Amanda approaches lessons with an insightful sensitivity to the needs of each student, diligently adhering to the philosophy that each student learns in a unique way, and her students have benefitted immensely from her extraordinary flexibility and patience; and

WHEREAS, her extensive classroom skills have been honored throughout the years with a number of awards, including being named the E.T. Booth Middle School Teacher of the Year in 2004 and receiving the 2006 Delta Kappa Gamma Society International Golden Apple Outstanding Educator Award and a Georgia Promise Grant for acquiring her master's degree in a critical need area; and

WHEREAS, she currently serves her colleagues as the Math Department chair for E.T. Booth Middle School, and she provides her capable guidance and leadership as the Academic Bowl coach and as an instrumental member of the E.T. Booth tutoring program; and

WHEREAS, the numerous outstanding accomplishments of this distinguished Georgia educator have brought honor to the Cherokee County School System, the Cherokee County community, and the State of Georgia.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize the indispensable service of educator Amanda Wilhelm, commend her for being named the 2007 Teacher of the Year by The TowneLaker magazine, and extend to her their sincerest best wishes for the future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Amanda Wilhelm.
