BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Chapter 24 of Title 33 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating
to insurance generally, so as to require insurers to notify any person claiming
to have a personal injury loss under an insurance contract of the statute of
limitations for bringing an action; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other
purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Chapter
24 of Title 33 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to insurance
generally, is amended by adding a new Code section to read as
follows:
"33-24-39.1.
An
insurer shall furnish written notice to any person claiming to have a personal
injury loss under an insurance contract issued by the insurer that actions for
injuries to the person must be brought within two years after the right of
action accrues."
SECTION
2.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
