BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Article 2 of Chapter 4 of Title 20 of the Official Code of Georgia
Annotated, relating to technical and adult education, so as to require
legislative approval for the creation, consolidation, suspension, relinquishment
of control, transfer, or discontinuation of a technical college or institution
under the State Board of Technical and Adult Education; to provide for related
matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Article
2 of Chapter 4 of Title 20 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating
to technical and adult education, is amended by adding a new Code section to
read as follows:
"20-4-37.
No
creation, consolidation, suspension, or discontinuation of a technical college
or institution under the State Board of Technical and Adult Education or any
relinquishment of control or transfer of such technical college or institution
to the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia or any other state
entity shall be effective or have any force and effect unless approved by the
General Assembly in accordance with this Code section. Legislative approval
shall be by Act of the General Assembly or the adoption of a joint resolution of
the General Assembly."
SECTION
2.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
