A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT


To amend Code Section 40-2-21 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to registration periods relative to registration and licensing of motor vehicles, so as to provide for a period during which a penalty for late registration shall not be entered; to provide for related matters; to provide an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.
Code Section 40-2-21 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to registration periods relative to registration and licensing of motor vehicles, is amended by adding a new subsection to read as follows:
"(g) Any other provision notwithstanding, when a natural person fails to register a motor vehicle on or before a registration deadline date, no monetory late fee shall be imposed against such person for the first 20 days following such registration deadline date. A late registration fee may be imposed for a registration occurring after the 20 day grace period for late registration provided for in this Code section."

SECTION 2.
This Act shall become effective upon its approval by the Governor or upon its becoming law without such approval.

SECTION 3.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
