A
RESOLUTION
Honoring
the life and memory of Mrs. Sandra A. Beasley; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia has lost one of its finest and most distinguished citizens
with the unfortunate passing of Mrs. Sandra A. Beasley; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Beasley was born May 9, 1942, and was the first of three children born to
Reverend Willie Earl and Mrs. Jennie Hytche Jarrett; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Beasley earned her undergraduate degree from Langston University and later
went on to conduct research in four West African countries through her studies
with the University of Illinois; she also earned a Certificate in Elementary
Education, a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and the academic
requirements for a doctoral degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City;
and
WHEREAS,
after beginning a career in social work, Mrs. Beasley altered her path to follow
her special calling to educate young people, impacting the lives of many during
her 36 years with the Kansas City Public School System before retiring from her
position as a high school principal in 2003; and
WHEREAS,
this devout woman was active in Palestine Missionary Baptist Church in Kansas
City, where she directed the theatrical guild, served as director of Teen II in
Vacation Bible School, and wrote for the church paper; and
WHEREAS,
during her life Mrs. Beasley was devoted to aiding humanity and spreading hope
and the gospel to others, as evident by her work with the prison ministry at
Leavenworth Prison and Lansing Correctional Center and her many mission trips to
Haiti; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Beasley was united in love and marriage to United States Air Force Master
Sergeant Joseph H. Beasley for 34 years, and the couple was blessed with two
remarkable and loving twin sons: Rodney Jarrett and Roderick Earl;
and
WHEREAS,
this great Georgian will long be remembered by her many friends, neighbors, and
relatives who valued her caring and helpful nature and her active involvement in
her community; and she leaves behind many who will cherish her memory and the
wonderful times shared; and
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia has lost one of its most beloved daughters with the passing
of this thoughtful sister, mother, grandmother, and friend.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that this body hereby
joins in honoring the life and memory of Mrs. Sandra A. Beasley and expressing
its appreciation of her many contributions to her community and the State of
Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs.
Beasley's family.
