A
RESOLUTION
Honoring
and celebrating the 95th birthday of Mrs. Mary Sallie Clark Hughes; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Mary Sallie Clark Hughes is a woman of deep and abiding faith and long-time
member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
known as "Mother Hughes," she has worked tirelessly for over 70 years devoting
her time and love to her community and those less fortunate; and
WHEREAS,
originally from Maxeys, Georgia, Mother Hughes is known by all as an encourager,
counselor, teacher, leader, servant, missionary, and comforter to countless
individuals of all races; and
WHEREAS,
her example is an inspiration to all who know her and she is a gift to those
fortunate to be around her; and
WHEREAS,
a servant of God, Mother Hughes has aided countless of poor souls in need,
including the homeless, the destitute, and disaster victims; and
WHEREAS,
Mother Hughes has spent many late nights washing, ironing, and folding clothes
for families in need and brightened the hearts of many by caring for and
inspiring the disaster victims and residents of over 12 metropolitan Atlanta
homeless shelters; and
WHEREAS,
this distinguished gentlewoman has given inspiration to many through her high
ideals, morals, and deep concern for her fellow citizens and she possesses the
vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the strength of character
which is achieved through overcoming the many challenges of life;
and
WHEREAS,
she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, understanding, and kindness and by the example she has made of her
life, she makes this world a better place in which to live, and it is only
fitting and proper that she be appropriately recognized during this very special
and memorable time of her life.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Mrs. Mary Sallie Clark Hughes on the occasion of her 95th
birthday and extend to her the wish of many more years of
happiness.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Mary
Sallie Clark Hughes.
