A
RESOLUTION
Honoring
the life and memory of Ms. Melvalina "Lina" D. Canion; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia mourns the loss of a young bright rising star, Ms.
Melvalina D. Canion, on February 18, 2009; and
WHEREAS,
a native of Warner Robins, Georgia, Ms. Canion was born August 10, 1984, the
beloved daughter of Rosemary Sturn Fuller and Eugene Canion; and
WHEREAS,
a graduate of Houston County High School, Ms. Canion attended Middle Georgia
Technical College where she displayed a fierce spirit of independence;
and
WHEREAS,
a woman of deep and abiding faith, Ms. Canion was a member of Meditation Prayer
Tower Church in Kathleen, Georgia, uplifting the congregation with her beautiful
voice in the choir and serving as a youth leader; and
WHEREAS,
she had a distinguished career in customer service for FabriCare of Warner
Robins, but her greatest accomplishment was her young son, Jaylon, who she
cherished and was absolutely devoted to; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Canion was always full of life and remained positive in the toughest of
times, providing others with a warm smile and encouraging them with her
compassionate and embracing spirit; and
WHEREAS,
she gave inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern
for her fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding she
demonstrated to her family and friends was admired by others; and
WHEREAS,
she was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and, by the example she made of
her life, she made this world a better place in which to live; and
WHEREAS,
she is survived by her mother, Rosemary Sturn Fuller; her father, Eugene Canion;
her son, Jaylon Canion; her life mate, Herman Smith; her brother, Lazarus
Fuller; her sister, Shenica F. Hill; along with two stepchildren, grandparents,
aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives;
and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Canion will long be remembered for her love of music, reading, and dancing,
and this loyal daughter, mother, sister, companion, and friend will be missed by
all who had the great fortune of knowing her.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in honoring the life and memory of Ms. Melvalina "Lina" D. Canion
and express their deepest and most sincere regret at her passing.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
Ms. Melvalina "Lina" D. Canion.
