RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Dylan Lee Coker; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Dylan Lee Coker has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, the most distinguished
rank conferred by the Boy Scouts of America; and
WHEREAS,
a candidate for the most exceptional award in scouting must complete a rigorous
program of training and demonstrate his proficiency in selected scouting
techniques and attainment of the highest ideals of scouting, a program in which
only one scout in 97 ever reaches; and
WHEREAS,
Dylan is a member of Troop 39 in Calhoun, Georgia, and is known in the community
for his positive and uplifting attitude, always displaying a smile and a helping
hand; and
WHEREAS,
to qualify for the rank of Eagle Scout, Dylan built five nesting areas for the
Killdeer bird on land designated and managed by the Wildlife Conservation Fund,
a project requiring over 145 hours of volunteer work; and
WHEREAS,
Dylan has proven himself to be an exceptional student while at Calhoun High
School, earning all A's and B's and making his education a priority while
holding down an after school job; and
WHEREAS,
he has demonstrated a great deal of leadership, insight, initiative, and
independence for a 16 year old; for example, he decided to begin attending
church because he felt something was missing from his life, and there he has
been instrumental in the creation of a Boy Scout Venturing Crew, on which he
serves as Crew Guide; and
WHEREAS,
despite having to take on many adult responsibilities at a young age, Dylan has
always been resolved to achieve greatness and he demonstrates a work ethic to be
admired; and
WHEREAS,
Dylan listed on his Eagle Scout application that his main ambition in life was
to be a good father, which to him means to be a leader, to have perseverance, to
show unconditional love, and most of all have understanding; and
WHEREAS,
the Eagle Scout Board of Review concluded their interview with Dylan in less
than 15 minutes, unanimously recommending this remarkable young man for the
ranking of Eagle Scout; and
WHEREAS,
the perseverance and determination displayed by this outstanding young leader is
an example for all Georgians, and great success is surely in this young man's
future.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that members of this
body commend Dylan Lee Coker for his diligence and dedication in pursuing the
highest honor awarded by the Boy Scouts of America and congratulate him on
attaining the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dylan Lee
Coker.
