A RESOLUTION


Honoring the life and memory of Mr. Abdul Razak Ibrahim Harruna; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of Mr. Abdul Razak Ibrahim Harruna; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Harruna was born on September 3, 1965, in Kpembe in the Northern Region of Ghana to Alhaji Ibrahim Harruna of the Gonja Royal Family and Hajia Amina Harruna of Adidome in the Volta Region of Ghana; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Harruna attended Salaga Secondary School in Salaga, Ghana, Tamale Secondary School in Tamale, Ghana, and Winneba Secondary School in Winneba, Ghana; and

WHEREAS, in 1992, Mr. Harruna earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer and Information Science from Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Harruna went on to earn a Master of Business Administration degree from City University in Seattle, Washington, while working for Boeing Company as a Network Design Engineer; and

WHEREAS, this driven and intelligent man worked for the BellSouth company for many years, serving as Lead Network Engineer, Senior Manager and Provisioning Engineer, and Senior Manager of Network Operations/Metro Ethernet Operations, earning a Relay Award and a Leadership Distinction award during his time with the company; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Harruna was active in the National Black MBA Association and gave generously of his spare time by volunteering as a youth football coach and referee; and

WHEREAS, during his life Mr. Harruna was devoted to improving his country of birth through his work as founding president of Salaga Area Union of North America and his membership in the Gonjaland Association of North America; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Harruna was united in love and marriage to his wife Adizatu, and the couple was blessed with three remarkable and loving children, Kamila, Laila, and Khalil; and

WHEREAS, this great man will long be remembered by his many friends, neighbors, and relatives who valued his caring and helpful nature and his active involvement in his community; and he leaves behind many who will cherish his memory and the wonderful times shared; and

WHEREAS, all who were privileged to know this distinguished gentleman join his family in mourning his loss.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that this body hereby joins in honoring the life and memory of Mr. Abdul Razak Ibrahim Harruna and expressing its appreciation of his many contributions to his community and the State of Georgia.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Harruna's family.
