RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the National Association of Securities Professionals; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the National Association of Securities Professionals was founded in 1985 by the
late Maynard Jackson, former mayor of Atlanta, Georgia, and Travers Bell, Jr., a
Wall Street pioneer; and
WHEREAS,
the mission of the National Association of Securities Professionals is to help
people of color and women level the playing field in the financial securities
industry; and
WHEREAS,
the National Association of Securities Professionals connects members to
industry leaders and business opportunities, advocates for policies that create
equal representation and inclusion, and provides educational opportunities;
and
WHEREAS,
the organization's goal is to increase awareness of the value of including
people of color and women in all aspects of the financial service industry;
and
WHEREAS,
with ten chapters throughout the United States, members of the National
Association of Securities Professionals include asset and wealth managers,
brokers, public finance professionals, investment bankers, bond counsel,
commercial bank underwriters, institutional investors, plan sponsors, and other
professionals in the financial securities industry; and
WHEREAS,
this year the National Association of Securities Professionals will hold its
20th annual conference June 10-12 in Atlanta, Georgia, and will include an
impressive group of investment professionals, including corporate treasurers,
key public trustees, asset allocation experts, and world-recognized economists;
and
WHEREAS,
this informative event, entitled "Unprecedented Changes, Global Opportunities,
and the Politics of Investing: Managing and Protecting Assets in Uncertain
Times," will place a premium on issues of managing risks in a volatile economy,
financial literacy, and the development of strategic alliances; and
WHEREAS,
to kick off and honor the 2009 conference, the organization will be holding a
reception on January 27, 2009, at Atlanta Life Financial Group in Herndon Plaza
in Atlanta.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the National
Association of Securities Professionals is hereby recognized and commended for
the great work this organization does for the country and State of
Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the National
Association of Securities Professionals.
