A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Preston G. and Mary Agnes Snooks Exley on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Preston G. and Mary Agnes Snooks Exley were united in love and marriage on January 31, 1960, by Reverend Kell Hinson at Springfield United Methodist Church and will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this year; and

WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Exley's 50 year union and unyielding loyalty and devotion to one another serve as an inspiration to their family, friends, and neighbors; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Exley has held positions with Sears, Roebuck & Co., Exchange Bank of Springfield, and Effingham Hospital and retired as a paraprofessional with the Effingham County Board of Education; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Exley served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the United States National Guard for 23 years, retiring as commander of C Battery 2nd of the 214th Field Artillery; and

WHEREAS, he retired from the Savannah Sugar Refinery after 40 years of service, served for 14 years on the Effingham County School Board and 12 years as the chief magistrate of Effingham County, and currently serves part time as a senior judge in the Magistrate Court of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, the Exleys are active members of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Springfield and are involved in many civic and community organizations; and

WHEREAS, they have been blessed with the love of their children, Michelle and Alan Van Sickle and Stuart and Tonya Exley, their grandchildren, Marina and Zachary Van Sickle and Justin Beasley; and
WHEREAS, the devotion, patience, and understanding they have demonstrated have provided the foundation and framework of success in which all of their family members have developed and flourished; and

WHEREAS, known for their generosity and kindness, the Exleys have made the world a better place in which to live, with many incredible contributions to their family, community, and state; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the Exleys be congratulated on their many years of happiness and their magnificent 50 year commitment to each other.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in congratulating Preston G. and Mary Agnes Snooks Exley on their 50th wedding anniversary and extend their sincere best wishes for many more happy years together.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. and Mrs. Exley.
