RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Morgan County Middle School for being designated as a Georgia
Lighthouse School to Watch in 2009; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Morgan County Middle School has been designated as a Georgia Lighthouse School
to Watch, a recognition program developed by the National Forum to Accelerate
Middle-Grades Reform; and
WHEREAS,
Morgan County Middle School joins 14 other Georgia schools to receive this
prestigious designation since the program's inception in 2002; and
WHEREAS,
a school deemed a Lighthouse School to Watch has been selected by state leaders
for its academic excellence, responsiveness to the needs and interests of young
adolescents, and commitment to helping students achieve at high levels;
and
WHEREAS,
the recognition demonstrates that Morgan County Middle School is a school with
strong leadership, teachers who work together to improve curriculum and
instruction, and dedication to assessment and accountability to bring about
continuous improvement; and
WHEREAS,
this remarkable middle school has proven that it is possible to overcome
barriers in order to achieve excellence and become a place of learning where
educators and students are eager to take part; and
WHEREAS,
with this title, Morgan County Middle School is officially acknowledged as a
model middle school and will serve as a shining example for other middle schools
across the state; and
WHEREAS,
this designation is an honor for students, faculty, and staff and one that is
deserving of pride for the school and the Morgan County community.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Morgan County Middle School on its designation as a Georgia
Lighthouse School to Watch.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Morgan County
Middle School.
