A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Mrs. Sharon Lowery on the occasion of her retirement; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mrs. Sharon Lowery has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, she has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of her community and state as evidenced dramatically by her 25 years of superlative service with the City of Snellville, where she has served with honor and distinction; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Lowery began her employment with the City of Snellville in 1984 as a part time police dispatcher and served the city in several different capacities throughout the years, including administrative aide to the Chief of Police, executive assistant to the Mayor, and her current position as City Clerk and Chief Financial Officer; and

WHEREAS, a native of Snellville, Mrs. Lowery has earned designation as a Certified Municipal Clerk and a Level I Certified Finance Officer from her diligent studies with the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, during her tenure with the city, Mrs. Lowery has seen Snellville grow from a small community to an urban city with over 18,000 citizens and has participated first hand in the administration office's transition from hand ledger accounting to a technologically advanced system with many services being offered online; and

WHEREAS, the outstanding service Mrs. Lowery has provided during her time with the city to three mayors, 18 councilmembers, and numerous employees and Snellville citizens earned her the honor of Employee of the Year in 1996; and
WHEREAS, her significant organizational and leadership talents, her remarkable patience and diplomacy, her keen sense of vision, and her sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of this state have earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and associates; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Mrs. Sharon Lowery for her years of efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the City of Snellville; congratulate her upon the grand occasion of her retirement; and extend to her their most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Sharon Lowery.
