A RESOLUTION


Honoring the life and memory of Mr. George Clark; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of a most distinguished American with the passing of Mr. George Clark on December 30, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Clark was born on January 25, 1942, in Peoria, Illinois, a beloved son of the last pastor William Clark, Sr., and missionary Fannie Clark; and

WHEREAS, he served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the United States Army and completed basic training Fort Campbell, Kentucky; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Clark valiantly and bravely protected democracy for two terms of active duty as a military police officer stationed in Germany and earned numerous honors and medals for his courageous service; and

WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, Mr. Clark was an active member of Lovejoy Church of God in Christ, where he served as church treasurer and deacon; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Clark was united in love and marriage to his adoring wife, Kathea, on February 14, 2006, and was blessed with the love of four children, Marcia, Gabrielle, Gregory, and Ricardo, 24 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example he made of his life, he made this world a better place in which to live; and

WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Mr. Clark will long be remembered for his love of family and friendship, and this loyal husband, father, brother, and friend will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing him.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Mr. George Clark and express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Mr. George Clark.
