A RESOLUTION


Urging the United States Congress to send to the legislatures of the several states a proposed amendment to the Constitution of the United States to provide that the Sixteenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States be repealed; to provide support for the enactment of a national sales tax; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Sixteenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States authorizes the Congress to tax incomes from whatever source derived; and

WHEREAS, the members of this body desire that the Constitution of the United States be amended to repeal such provision and, further, that the Congress shall enact a national sales tax to replace the revenue lost due to the repeal of the income tax.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body urge the United States Congress to send to the legislatures of the several states a proposed amendment to the Constitution of the United States to provide that the Sixteenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States be repealed.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to each member of Georgia's delegation in the United States Congress.
