RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Betty and Mike Efird; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Betty and Mike Efird have long been recognized by the citizens of this state for
the vital role that they have played in leadership and their deep personal
commitment to supporting the police and fire departments of DeKalb County;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. and Mrs. Efird are the recipients of the Family of the Year Award from the
Stone Mountain Woman's Club; and
WHEREAS,
for the past 11 years, Mrs. Betty Efird has served as chairperson for the PRISM
Christmas Appreciation Luncheon for the DeKalb Police Department and, along with
the help of her husband Mike, she has gathered donations for gift boxes for
firefighters at seven DeKalb fire stations; and
WHEREAS,
the Efirds are certified in disaster relief through the Fire Fighter's Rescue
Reserve and volunteer numerous hours at the DeKalb Fire Headquarters and
warehouse; and
WHEREAS,
dedicated to improving the community of DeKalb County and the lives of Georgia
residents, the Efirds are active in the Dial Heights Civic Association and are
faithful members of First Baptist Church of Avondale, where Mrs. Efird sings in
the choir; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Efird is a member of the International Affairs Department of the Stone
Mountain Woman's Club, DeKalb's Clean and Beautiful Program, the DeKalb
Federation of Garden Clubs, and the Sundial Garden Club; and
WHEREAS,
this remarkable couple diligently and conscientiously dedicate their time,
talents, and energy to uplifting the lives of others and have been instrumental
in the restoration of the Friendship Forest Wildlife Sanctuary in Clarkston;
and
WHEREAS,
the benevolent and honorable deeds of this distinguished couple serve as a
shining example of volunteerism, and the State of Georgia is honored and blessed
to have Mr. and Mrs. Efird as citizens.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Betty and Mike Efird on their volunteer efforts and
contributions and congratulate them on their recognition as Family of the Year
from the Stone Mountain Woman's Club.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit appropriate copies of this resolution to Mr. and Mrs.
Efird.
