A RESOLUTION


Congratulating the Buford High School football team on winning the 2008 Class AA State Championship and inviting the team to appear before the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, through perseverance and iron determination, the Buford High School football team earned the top ranking in the state with their 45-21 win over Calhoun High School at the Georgia Dome; and

WHEREAS, the title-earning win by the Wolves completed their impressive 15-0 season and clinched a second straight state championship for Buford High football; and

WHEREAS, this 2009 all star team earned Buford High a place in many record books, including scoring an amazing 233 postseason playoff points, holding the third-longest winning streak in county history with 30 straight wins, and tying for the most wins in a decade with 125; and

WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and spirit of each member of the team; their superb offensive and defensive talents; and the astute direction of Head Coach Jess Simpson; and

WHEREAS, as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by performing with courage and precision over months of training and competition, it is abundantly proper to call them champions.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate the Buford High School football team for winning the 2008 Class AA State Championship and extend their sincerest best wishes for future success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the players and coaches of the Buford High School football team are hereby invited to appear before the House of Representatives at a date and time to be fixed by the Speaker of the House for purposes of being recognized by the House and receiving an appropriate copy of this resolution.
